Hopeless 2 (beta 1.66 - 1.78)

Welcome to the world of Kineterra.
The 5th map (codenamed KIN) has been designed for team play and snipers,
but the gunners and bombers will be busy as well.
Many other game improvements (interface, engine, RPG-7, etc)

As I said before, this map is HUGE and has been design for team play and snipers mostly.
It's NOT a frags builder.
Of course, 10-12 players would fit better on this map, but ...
as long as we let them all to play, it's impossible to raise the number of players per map.
At least for 2 reasons:
1) an entry-level computer cannot deal with more than 6 players per camp,
presuming you want a decent FPS value.
2) most of the players have 160-240ms ping.
10-12 players per camp require a ping better than 160ms (120-160).

Yea, well Simon has better machine :P
I think 10-15 players will be good for this map because it's really huge and I know that for these 10 or 15 players in camp we should have GeForce GTX 295 :lol: but I like it like this, at start I thought this was a slow map but I got 200 frags for hour and a half so...

A Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB RAM and GeForce 8600GT are enough for 16 players per camp.
But 160ms ping is not enough and 240ms is out of question (you cannot even join a camp). :mrgreen:
I might keep the 160ms ping as minimum requirements, raise the number of players to 12, but that means +50% processing power demand.
We have many players with 49-50 FPS in any full camp, but most of them have laptops or cheap desktops (not suitable to play 3D games).
Do not forget about our ancient player hannibal.
He cannot play at all in case of more than 6 players per camp.
On the other hand, we have a bunch of players with ping >160ms and/or bad connections.
For all of them, 12 players per camp is out of question.

p.s.
The Hopeless 2 NetController has been design to run perfect with 160ms ping (or better)
and 8 players per camp (presuming all of them have decent connections).
Most of the standalone multiplayer 1st person shooters don't accept players with ping >120 ms.

True... I saw that games, but they have many servers so they can find 1 where they will have < 120ms and we have 2 servers so you can not do something like that :lol:
I noticed that now in KIN map some of players have connection problems... and they don't have that problems in others maps...
I have FPS problems, because it's laptop and I don't have refrigerator like on deck computer (Coolermaster), so after long playing my laptop become hot and FPS lower and lower, in other maps it's fine but in KIN...

And I have one request, would it be possible that we can shoot while descending down a cliff?

We're planning the 3rd dedicated server. In Germany ...

In fact they have low FPS because of the Q3 shaders and they act like players with bad connection.

80ms ping for all the players from Europe.

Very nice, map is much faster now...

Remus, I found some "error",

It's "after > break time error". When I took a break (> break time) in the lowest point of the map (under the tower where is M249 or M249 ammo), and then come back, I lose all health, and get suicide, like I jumped from the highest point of the camp to the lowest... :shock:

I'm working on the underground bar and now the "break time" location is linked to the bar.
When you come back from there, you (almost) die because it's another 3D world in another galaxy.

After you kill an enemy, you have a few seconds to pick up his weapon.
:twisted:

Important note: v1.69 is 100% backward compatible.
However ... if you kill players using v1.68, you'll get only pistols from them.

Maybe there is a timer of 1 minute before picking same ammo after i pick the gun left from a ded body...or there is an error?

Yes i know i have few seconds but when i pick up that gun from the ded body and near there is ammo for the same gun the ammo charge is empty then i try to pick another ammo of the same kind and still that other ammo charge is empty but if i wait a minute before picking ammo then the ammo charge works

a new beta 1.70 round of corrections.

Fine tuning of the enemy bounding box:
- the head area is 50% smaller
- the bounding box shape is more accurate

You need to clear the browser cache and to reload the game (webpage).

Because I want to see happy "ancients", another round of corrections:
1) 10 rounds per Dragunov (realistic)
2) 5 rockets per RPG-7 (more realistic ... :mrgreen: )
3) lower accuracy for sniper (with Scope = Off) and shotgun at long distances.
4) improved scope (better zoom and smoother movement)
5) now you get points function of the rank of your target:
- 5 points if you kill a player with less than 500 frags
- 10 points if you kill a player with 500...4999 frags
- 15 points if you kill a player with 5000...29999 frags
- 20 points if you kill a legend.

In the game when you are killed at the same time that your enemie you take his weapon but you are killed (this is an error )

Hi Remus,

I liked the changes which had for points, but really wanted to use for other things, not just to buy body armor, radar or life. Also weapons as it was before the sniper.

That's right.
The Jump Mod is limited to +10% (you don't need more).
But maybe in a future map ... :mrgreen:
