Not only for this game, but for any browser based game:

1) the fastest combination is "Windows XP + IE6"
(I also get very good results on Windows XP + Firefox 3.6)
Another good and mature browser is IE7.
Windows Vista sucks.
Windows 7 is OK.

2) good antivirus = good protection without wasted system resources.
A very good option is Avira.

Stay away from Avast (wasted resources & a bunch of false alarms)!
