I agree that the video looks cool, but I am personally suspicious.
1. In order to lift off, you’d need to apply enough force to the air to overcome the combined mass of man and equipment. There are allot of unknown variables here.
The studies done with cycling athletes on human HP production vary but generally top out around 1HP for only very short segments, i.e. lactic acid buildup. Based on muscle mass, I’m assuming the upper body would be much less than this.
Who knows how efficient their wing design is. i.e. Drag Coefficient & Lifting Line Theory and Oswald efficiency number. i.e. yikes!
2. The tire tracks in the grass also look very suspicious.
3. If this is not a fake, it seems to be quite a remarkable accomplishment.

I just need more proof than a youtube video.

Born skeptics we are!

But read on. This link was in the description below the video:

Now if I can just figure out how to get this thingy into TGY, maybe I can catch that damn crow... :whatis:

Slapshot with all due respect you linked to the group’s own website  ? I’ll be patient and wait for independent sources to take a closer look as this. Human self-powered flight has been a quest of mankind since we could think of such things. I’m not one run around and say “that’s impossible” but I’m a skeptic with good reason in this case. This one smells fishy for several more reasons than I cared to list. In fact, the more I look at it, the smellier it gets.
I pledge to you. If I am wrong I will eat one of those crows you are hunting.

Don't you think if this really happened, then it would be on every news channel in every corner of the globe.

Do you think the people were on the Moon? I think they are, aldo some think that this was just a TV show made in NASA production! People, without enthusiasts and dreamers there will be no new ideas and everything will be as usual. Hopless2 made by Remus would be than just a fiction (never exist in real life but we are playing it). Remus certanly could not produce such a game 10 years ago but he was a dreamer....That dream led to the reality that we much enjoy today! Same is with flying...

The dream of man alert of time is to fly like birds.
For some this dream would have to last for hours.
For a few minutes others may be flying as much.
And for others it may be the feeling of flying for a few seconds.

These video's are content with only seconds, but are seconds that last a lifetime.

Raise the volume, put it on full screen and enjoy a little feeling of being in the air for a few seconds.

UPDATE: Floris Kaayk, aka, Jarno Smeet, appeared on Dutch television today where he admitted his video was a hoax. Wired reports Kaayk claims it was an "experiment about online media."

Ahhh, but it is still one of the most common dreams of humans!

FLYING** The great Mythical symbol of Freedom. The meaning of flying dreams is one of good omens. You instinctively know the goals in life and how to seek them. Whether it's love you seek, or a place in life, or fame and fortune, you will fly over earthly obstacles and find your happiness. Recurrent flying dreams indicate great fortune. All Traditions explain flying dreams in the same way. If you are in your own human form, you will find happiness in an ordinary but successful life. If you are a bird in your dream, you will be most fortunate in life and attact good luck. If you are a Winged Human (Greek: ORNITHANTHROPUS), you are bound for a highly creative and fulfilled life.
