Dropping the Flag
Remus,
I was wondering if Capture the Flag could benefit from having a button that allows you to drop a flag if you're carrying it.
Maybe the 0 key could be a flag release...
Two reasons I am thinking this:
1) It seems like it would be good strategy. For example, if I have the opposite team's flag and am running back to base with Scrappit running interference, I might take on some fire while he goes unscaved.
If I dropped this flag, he could pick it up and have a better chance, while I then switched places and defended him while he ran with better odds of getting it back to our base.
And since the flags now show up on radar, you don't have to worry about people taking the flags and hiding them in houses or anything like that.
2) Sakir accidentally picked up the flag today. Okay, it's not a big deal. I just shot him and got it back. But having a key to just drop it would also work in these instances when people mess up.

What do you mean with "accidentally"?Timberwolf wrote: Sakir accidentally picked up the flag today.
In any case, it's not possible to drop the flag (because you're too close to it in the next sequence).
I don't see any reason to drop the flag, but the only solution is to throw it (to a certain distance).
Or, of course, you can kill yourself if you want to drop the flag.

Re: Dropping the Flag
Milan and Sakir were waiting for Kiren and I to enter. I was in there, so we only needed Kiren to start.
So the match wasn't started, but Sakir was just running around the camp and picked up the yellow flag before it started.
He didn't do this to purposefully try to get a point. He just didn't realize he could pick up the flag yet.

He reminds me of mucaht in Free Teams (when he was "junior").
He used to get a couple of frags (with sniper) before it started.
His favorite targets were supreme, Milan and you.

Re: Dropping the Flag
I haven't played CTF since the new update so I have a question.
Does the flag show up on radar permantly or only when it is dropped?

I might implement it (using the Delete key), but I'm not sure if I want that.Timberwolf wrote:I was wondering if Capture the Flag could benefit from having a button that allows you to drop a flag if you're carrying it.
The main reason: I don't want a player to drop a flag and to pick up the other one.
And all of these only in a few seconds.

- in "Capture The Flag" you can see the location of your flag if is dropped.

Cool
I had a thought that you may be on everyones radar when running through camp with a flag. In other words, like having a big bullseye painted on your head.

A very informative and descriptive reply Josh, if not a little informal.Timberwolf wrote:Bollocks
Incidently, this is one of my favourite words from the english dictionary and I use it in many different situations.

Re: Dropping the Flag
Here is another reason for "you cannot drop the flag":
Your base is the green one, you carry the yellow flag, but the green flag is not at home.
You are doomed!
You have two options:
1) to help your team mates to bring the green flag at home.
2) to die.

CTF has not been designed for 2vs2.Scrappitt wrote:Hmmmm, tricky choice when playing 2V2
In any case, I forgot to mention the 3rd option:
3) if you carry the enemy flag, your health is low and your flag is not at home,
you can hide yourself.
The enemies don't know the location of their flag, but your team mates know your location.
