CTF Teams

Remus, this might seem like an odd (read: stupid) request, but hear me out:

I'm thinking that we could make great use of a command that allowed someone to temporarily switch teams or to create a temporary team.

For example, if one team had 3 players and the other had only 1, they could maybe type in "> username new team name" in camp and switch for the duration of that camp.

Today COD had 4 members on - Carla, Besigner, Supreme, Timberwolf

Hell Boyz had only 2 members - Milan, Tina

With this command, I could type "> Timberwolf Hell_Boyz" and, just for the duration of the CTF match, I could be a Hell Boy and we could have an even match.

It would also allow more team members to play more team matches to help with their respective team's coefficiency ratings.

Of course, this command would ONLY be available to players already with a team, and it would only be available while in a team-specific camp.

Also, it only works for the person typing it, so I wouldn't be able to type "> Besigner Hell_Boyz" and control someone else.

And, to avoid people trying to have fun with it, it can only be done once and can't be undone by retyping it. You would have to leave camp. And you can't do it at all once a team has scored a point, to cancel out cheating attempts.

This way, you get what you want in a sense by having actual "teams" play CTF - since all would have to be on a registered team to use it. And you will see a lot more matches of makeshift teams by having a team with all members lend a member to a team for the sake of playing the game.

And for the temporary team thing, I was thinking that players could use your "Necromanthus" team if they had no teammates.

For example, if one member from Spartacus Theokloes, one member from Call of Duty and one member from The Soldiers was on, and three members from StarTrek were on, the hodgepodge members could all three type "> username Necromanthus" and become a temporary team to face StarTrek.

In fact it means that COD is a real team and Hell_Boyz is not.
Do you want pseudo-teams in Capture The Flag (elite team mode)?
Take a look here: http://www.infdat.com/hopeless2/FreeTeams.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I think "TFC Free Teams" is the most played pseudo-teams map in the entire gaming history.

Technically speaking, it can be done without any problem.
But do you really want to borrow players, to mess up the teams and these tables?

I'm sure you don't want that.

hi :),

I agree with josh idea somehow.. atleast we can play CTF then even there are not enuf members... so i am saying that..

we can make an extra elite CTF mode.. where only registered team players can access.. and
you can use necromanthus account or others team account on temporary basis to play team or
it could be green vs yellows..

but this match wont make any team member as active.. so they still have to play teammatches to activate themselves on a team and to access this elite CTF mode.

in this way we could have more matches.. this elite CTF would work as IPL (indian premier league) where they hired many international players. n that is fun.

so CTF elite would work as IPL and CTF would work as for pure teammatches.

We can have bonuses for teammatches etc and lot more ideas can be integrated over here :)

ty ty i know i m nt dumb!
haha

The players dispersion is already HUGE (1:8 most of the time)!
CTF has been designed for 3vs3 and 4vs4.
The gameplay is (it should be!) based on strategy.
We need real teams able to bring online 3-4 players at the same time.
Except Call_Of_Duty and Messenger_of_Death, I don't see other real teams.
"TCF Free Teams" is a complete chaos (pseudo-teams does not mean team play).
The answer is NO (at least for now).

Josh, Kiren,

Presuming I will introduce the > switch team command in Capture The Flag
(obviously, the final score cannot be saved anymore).
Do you know the long-term result of that?
Increased players dispersion and less and less teams and team activity.
:|
I like a lot John_H and gunul.
But if they play at the same hours and their teams suck, why don't they share the same team?

Okay.

But I would suggest a change in overall H2 atmosphere.

Currently, H2 is operating more like America - people have freedom to go be noobs in one specific part of camp without any backlash. They can stay in there all day, hurt the overall game with their greed of quick frags, and never venture to another part of the game.

They're taking full advantage.

So it's time H2 worked a little more like Communist China!

TFC Free Teams is too "free" as it stands now.

Something has to give - something that won't be a deterrent, but also won't be an incentive.

I say no points at all for registered team members playing free teams.

Also, no stinger missiles or pro package incentives in free teams. That means no health, ammo, damage bonuses, and no M-gun and new sniper rifle.

Also, no frags count for any player in free teams with more than 15,000 kills and a registered team.

It's just pathetic at this point that "legends" (Not in MY mind lmao) are earning hundreds a day in that SNAFU pit of despair.

Interesting subject.
Josh has good idea.
Maybe if you make that players with registered team can not access Free Team camp, only Deathmatch and CTF, and free players (without teams) can access Free Team but in that camp to have limited weapons, no metter do they have a PRO or not, so perhaps it persuade them to set up a team.

this would only stop people from making a team in the first place.

yes scrap is right.. we cant restrict team players to not have access..
there should be some other way.. like free team players would only get points but not frags or something like this.. i havent think abt this atm.. but there could be some other good solution.

How about:
In order to get to the next rank (and therefore extra mods) you have to become skillful in more ways than just blasting a MC gun at people.
Each camp has different tactics and skills.
Lets make it so that you have to get a certain amount of frags in each camp to make the next grade.
eg. 500 in TFC as well as 100 in SMC and 250 in AZT.
The numbers are just rough but it gives you the idea.

This idea could be extended further by making people use certain guns to get a certain number of frags.

Interesting idea Simon.
But it's impossible to put in practice something like that.
Over 4 millions frags so far, but the maps were not saved. :|
On the other hand, "different tactics and skills" does not necessarily mean different frags limit.
For now, I think the best approach is the following:
- 5 points per frag in Free Teams (the rank of the target is ignored).
- limited weapons set per map, Free For All and Free Teams.
Anyway, I have to think about all of these.

Or what about this idea, Remus can set up like in first SMC, if you want bonuses you need to be a member of some team, well now we have PRO, and we have many players with PRO without team, so they can get all mods + 20 (just example), and if they want more they must become a member of some team...

Hmm...

I say take the pro player weapons out of free teams, including the stinger launcher, and then have upgraded weapons in the registered teams camps.

Replace the G3 with a better machine gun option for registered teams camps.

Add the land mines!

Replace the stinger launcher with a heat-guided millsile launcher that will lock onto a target and follow the target. This way, you have to outrun the bomb! You'll need to duck around a corner or jump somewhere at the last minute.

Replace the Colt 45 with a better pistol. Maybe not more damage (definitely not! lol), but one that's more accurate over a longer distance.

I think this gives people a reason to play in registered camps, as they'll think it's cooler. And with the quick-killing M-249 and the FUBAR bazooka gone from free teams, people may want to play less.

And take away their points if that's all they want to do in the game all day. Most do not even try to communicate and make friends and teams, most aren't members of the forum, and most are dumb noob-connection-having speedhacks in training anyway.

RPG-7 will remain untouched.
But the upcoming Stinger can have heat-seeking missiles.
