Textures Quality (in the main menu):
1) Low (suitable for entry-level computers)
2) Medium (for mid-range computers)

I just realized that SMC in Low textures resolution looks "impressive".

But I bet all those with cheap computers will get a better frame rate in VIP and AZT,
if they set "Medium" or "Low" texture quality.

another v1.96 update.

Changed policy for the "> lock camp" command.
The session owner can lock the camp in the following conditions:
1) in "Free For All" if there are 4 players or more.
2) in "Free Teams" if each team has 2 members or more.
3) in "Deathmatch" if 1vs1, 2vs2, or 3vs3 (4vs4 is locked by default :mrgreen: )
4) in "Capture The Flag" if each team has 2 members or more.

I think it's a good feature all around. It will also open more useful camps, instead of having 2 camps with 8 players and 2 camps with 1 player.

PS

SMC on low looks like a dream - all blurry and stuff. :lol: I think I'll risk setting it on medium from now on. :twisted:

well
topscore player, will close the camp when he is with four players. This will not allow more players enter the field. It's a good idea?

PS: good update for reversing (the field loads first, then display the menu, hehe, more work for the browser cache,, hihihi!)

Only the session owner can lock the camp and it's a very good idea at least for 2 reasons:
1) there're top players with slow computers unable to get a decent FPS in case of more than 4 players in their camp.
2) you can have a "private" Free For All with 3 of your friends.

It's not weird at all.
In fact you'll love it for several reasons:
- more realistic (try in the real life to strafe and check out the movement speed)
- better aiming
- better motion for bad pingers
- better cheaters hunt.

It's not weird at all.
In fact you'll love it for several reasons:
- more realistic (try in the real life to strafe and check out the movement speed)

i dont know.. but i and many other players are not comfortable with this strafe.. its like you are getting killed like in some trap where u cant do any thing else except getting killed.. :)

player by himself should not feel tht he is much slow.. or cant move normal.

This is helping A LOT.
You need to get used to it, that's all.
You also need to understand a few things:
1) strafe is a kind of sneak, so is slow by default.
2) in the real life almost no one is performing this motion.
3) in the real life you cannot combine "walk ahead"+"strafe".

p.s.
x0.7 speed ahead in case of strafe.
That's all you'll get, don't ask for more!

You have the same movement speeds.
Except "walk ahead + strafe" (30% slower).
The camps were full of players with double strafe speed and terrible motions.
Not anymore.

The perfect match for "walk ahead + strafe".
You need to clear the browser cache (history) and to reload the game (webpage).

no.. i meant that if you changed to 0.5x strafe.. ( x = old strafe) then change it to (0.75x strafe).. this is all i meant in the post :P

I haven't seen it yet.

But if you change anything that folks have been used to, you know it's goingt to upset some. :twisted:

But walking forward AND strafing -- who does that? (I mean, I know EVERYONE on the game does it. But it's not even a real motion. :lol: )

After playing some, here's my verdict.

80pingers should get regualr speed (the way it was)

160pingers should get the new updates

This way, it "appears" as if it evens out.

Even though it's slower now, everythings stepped back to become slower. Meaning that the speed disparity is still technically there because slow guys like me became even slower. :lol:

Just a thought.

I haven't played enough for a full verdict on it. :biggthumbsup:

But you're still 160ms though right? You shouldn't (not 'you' personally but all 160ms) be so much slower to everyone else - only how you feel.

That's what the whole "strafe" business was about anyway.

Players with higher ping values look like they're much faster when they strafe + walk forward.

This has been established.

Now the hope is to make it even across the board by taking the speed away.

But now it's even worse on guys like me. :lol: I can't win for losing.

It's not half-speed, it's 0.85.

And this is the RIGHT value (the previous 1.0 was WRONG).
All the players with "walk ahead + strafe" were looking like speedhacks.
And here is the reason:
walk ahead = 1.0 speed
strafe = 0.5 speed
walk ahead + strafe = 1.12 speed (+12% speed boost !!!)
I had this bug for almost 2 years.
Not anymore.
The current values are:
walk ahead = 1.0 speed
strafe = 0.5 speed
walk ahead + strafe = 0.986 speed

Two more v1.97 updates:

1) improved NetController
Now it's based on 3 triggers:
- 100ms ping
- 180ms ping
- 260ms ping
The players with ping >260ms cannot play anymore.

2) improved maps loader.

I was thinking it meant that players with 80ms now have the same "behaviors" as players with 160ms, and players with 160ms now have the same as 240ms, so it kind of evens the field.

I think (I might be wrong) that remus adjusted the data so that 80ms guys "act" like 160ms guys.

So now the 80ms guys don't die so quickly and they don't see everyone so fast anymore. It looks a lot more like how the old SMC used to look.

I tried to ask in camp what you meant by seeing how it goes, but I couldn't type but wwsssddwwssdd so I left to come back.

I got complaints from faithful players with bad connections ... :cry:
The NetContoller has been extended (4 ping intervals):
- 80ms ping
- 160ms ping
- 240ms ping
- 320ms ping
The players with ping >320ms cannot play anymore.

note:
All the players with ping >240ms ruin the camps.
In a future version a new command will be available for the session owner:
> maxping 160
All the players with ping >160ms will be kicked out of that camp.
Including the session owner ... :lol:

A lot of players getting disconnected and coming back time and again.

I don't know if this has anything to do with anything... Maybe they're not updated with the latest version?

Maybe the players getting disconnected are jumping over 320ms?

1) I am in that range and i didn't have any problem today
2) the ping is measured only once per login
3) I just talked to Aldinho in a VIP camp.
I was there for over 15 minutes and he was not kicked out at all.

It happens to everyone and it's a matter of ISP.
For example two months ago, John_H (and other players from Italy) had the same issue:

I just talked to Marcos (from Brazil, same as Aldinho), gonzawa, Tanweer and Enes.
All of them with 159ms ping today.
They didn't have any connection issue today.
