Hopeless 2, computers and internet connections

Post by Timberwolf »

The gameplay in those days was so much better. I didn't know what a bad connection was!!

Then with server changes and 12-year-olds deciding to pollute us with nothing but junk-filled computers and everything else, it is incredibly difficult to even pull a .333 killing average in camps for skilled players, unless of course you are part of the problem.

On contrary.
In those days I didn't see a single good team match.
The current gameplay is WAY better.
I have all the statistics since february 2009.
Let me show you the main differences:
1) the current number of daily players is 3-4 times bigger (compared to the best days of StrykeMC!).
2) in those days all the camps were bloated with unregistered players, dumbs and dead heads.
Noob killers!
Not anymore.
3) 6 weapons, 3 of them (pistol, shotgun, grenade launcher) almost useless.
4) 10% turkish players compared to these days (this is the only point I agree with you).
Most of the turkish players have terrible connection and they ruin the camps.
5) a few team matches (in the past year we had THOUSANDS of team matches!!!).
For example "Brigada_Sangrienta" did not play a single team match.

So the only thing we need now is a server in Europe for the turkish players.
They should search for sponsors ...

6) You could play in camps with the most basic of pc's
7) We actually managed to get a tournament to the final stage.
8) Chat worked better (for me  )
9) You could actually be out of range of weapons and therefore move about freely.
10) You could play against the machine called 866.

You are right about the team games. Much better to have them now but at least the only Turkish team was Ottomans who were decent.

Oh and Praveen, here is another scoreboard for you to look at from earlier days. (Can you guess who is at No.16)

StrykeMC is a primitive version of Hopeless 2.

a single map, 5 characters x 2 outfits, 6 (ugly) weapons
vs
9 maps, 11 characters x 3 outfits, 14 weapons, land mines, a bunch of other features.

You cannot even compare them.
But if you are stuck with that Spectrum Sinclair ...

I know they don't compare to now, you have created a fantastic varied game. But why do I look back at that time with a sense of nostalgia, maybe it was the simplicity (easy for my small brain to cope with  ), maybe everything just seemed a lot fairer then.

Because we all do that.
I always look back when I have to do something new.
But i'm not stuck in the past.
In my opinion, this is a big mistake and it never brings anything good.

So it's time for you to get a decent computer.

I agree with Simon and Josh, I also was very happy, those days we didn't know for existence of CheatEngine and other hack programs, I could speak with 90% of players in game, now only with 10%, now I don't like most of players in game, I am the most hated person now and I was so so cute, almost as bunny

That was when you were in Eternal_Stryke, before you were a Hells_Girl, before you were a COD. Come to think of it Milan, you are just a gun for hire. Just like the 13yr old Turkish Boys you moan about for keep changing teams.

11) Remus spying on other people playing and keeping worthless stats but never playing makes for an expert the same way a kid can play Grand Theft Auto and somehow be an expert killer in real life.

You are wrong guys.
The latest StrykeMC version (v1.84) is still hosted on http://necromanthus.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I might unlock it to prove you that you'll get bored after 10 minutes.
"Simplicity" means a game without future (a dead game).
Just take a look at all these hundreds of feature requests in the past year.

Hopeless 2 is about x10 times better than StrykeMC.
From any point of view.
But Simon is unable to understand a basic fact:
every new feature takes a slice of RAM and processing power.
And Hopeless 2 has a bunch of features.

Josh is unable to understand another basic fact:
Many countries have bad internet connection to Chicago - USA.
A few of them: Turkey, Norway, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela.

And finally:
Take a look only at the first 100 players:
http://necromanthus.com/Games/ShockWave ... layers.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
vs
http://www.infdat.com/hopeless2/HMC.php?op=top" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
How many turkish players (with bad connection) do you see in the first listing?

To conclude.
1) for Simon:
Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 2GB DDR2-800, GeForce 8600GT, Windows XP, Internet Explorer 6
A 5 years old mid-range computer.
I get 48-50 FPS in full camp on any map.

2) for Josh:
We need more servers.
Chicago - USA is not a good option for many countries.

I agree that the game has improved 10X.
But I have never really gone much for having 15+ different weapons, give me 4 and I am happy.

Maybe I am alone with this. I know all the kids NEED all of these extras and I suppose they are the target audiance.

"Better" is always relative.

I don't dislike the game, obviously, as I still play it. It is just "better," in my opinion, without a lot of the crap and crowd we have now.

I have contended and still do contend that we would have a very large audience outside of bad Internet havens if only the morons were put out to pasture like a useless hunting dog.

A game like that is dead in a few months.
In fact, 99% of the browser based games on the market are dead in less than 1 year.
And StrykeMC was one of them.
Without updates and maintenance, a game has no future.
On the other hand, many people want to play 3D games with computers suitable for office, chat and other simple tasks.
Sorry fellows, that's impossible.

Yes Kiren.
Simon will get a game with a single character (the prehistorik one) and a single weapon (a club).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistorik" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or better, with some pictures & text instead of them (to maximize the FPS value).

He was never one for standing still where you could shoot him easily

This was taken just after we got our first sniper rifle from Uncle Remus, please see there are also no mod boxes. Blimey, things were primitive back then, and I still only managed 40/50FPS

Peterlech was that guy who only stood still and walked in straight line.

With today's new K/D ratio, he would have 15/291 but he would NEVER QUIT!

Start the game in Training mode (the Network is disabled).
If you get 50/50 FPS on any map (textures to "high"), there is something wrong with the modem/router of your laptop.

Yea, as I have read reviews about core i7 PCs here's what I have found out: Generally when someone now a days buys a new gaming PC, the factory pre-installs Windows 7. The factory also installs a TON of useless software, which mostly the reason for a 3 or 2 star rating for the "Features" review. This is because they are annoyed that they have to manually uninstall worthless software installed. So I suggest 2 things: 1: Find a day when you are bored to uninstall some software you think you don't need. And 2: Open up Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and click "processes" tab. There you will find what software that is running in the background is sucking up all of your memory and PC usage. Click the process and click "end process" button below. Hope this helps!
Target, 2 clicks out. Lock n’ load. Let’s look alive gentlemen.
